Nature Journal Classes
The esteemed Marley Peifer will share his knowledge and journaling techniques on our adventure hosting daily classes and private instruction.
Entomologist -Bug Expert
SciBugs (Nancy Miorelli) doesn't just do the logistics, she also has her master's degree in Entomology! Ask all the bug questions you'd like. She'll also present bug natural history lessons.
Private Garden Access
One 1/2 Day of private access to the Monteverde Butterfly gardens exclusively for our group.
Multiday Garden Reentry
Throughout your time in Monteverde you will have reentry permissions to the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens 8:30am -4pm
Night Tour @ the Gardens
The Monteverde Butterfly Gardens will give our grup an exclusive tour at night to see the animals' nocturnal behavior. Plus dinner with the staff and crew.
Lodging
Comfortable accomodations at Valle Escondido ecolodge, just a few steps away from the MonteVerde Butterfly Gardens
Unlimited Trail Access
We'll be staying on the Valle Escondido ecolodge with over 4km of trails on their grounds exploring a range of microclimates and vista points.
Activities & Entrances
We'll be doing a bunch of activities. Rest assured that if it's on the itinerary, you're covered
Meals
Meals will be provided by Valle Escondida Ecolodge and the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens.
Transport
Transportation to/from the Liberia airport and Monteverde.

Welcome to Costa Rica! Right away you'll be whisked away from the city to the misty mountains of Monteverde.

🐝You have the morning to yourself to say goodbye to the cloud forest.
🐝Hop on our shuttle and take a 2 hour scenic drive back Liberia.

🐝Those who are going on the Nature Journal Beach Vacation will continue on to Playa Negra.

Nancy is a passionate, self proclaimed, PR representative for insects. While earning her Master's degree at the University of Georgia in Entomology, it became crystal clear that most people did not see insects the way she did. Following her Master's, Nancy flew to the heart of the Ecuadorian cloud forest where she worked in an ecolodge. After two years, Nancy traded her leafy green jungle for the concrete jungle of Quito where she designs her own tours under the name SciBugs. She has been working in Ecuadorian Tourism since 2015.

Fantastic trip!!! Travel was well organized. Accommodations were very good. Food was excellent. No complaints at all!! Nancy is an excellent host and guide; always positive, quickly addressed any need. She is encouraging. She kept group dynamics positive. Very good lectures on insects! Would readily do another trip with her!

We enjoyed great twists and turns through Quito's churches, narrow steps, the Guayasamin art museum and ate a fancy gourmet lunch on the garden terrace atop a fancy chocolate shop. Nancy's attention to detail is amazing and she only take you to her favorite places.

Great introduction and overview of Quito. The guide, Nancy, was informative, entertaining and engaging. She had every logistic detail planned and organized to allow for efficiently visiting multiple sites. We started with the Guayasamin museum, then a rooftop patio lunch. The afternoon was filled with a walking tour around the Historic District with visits to the Basilica and selected cathedrals, with interesting historical information and insights, and a chance to shop if desired. We ended with the overlook at the Panecillo, a huge stature of Mary, followed by a wonderful dinner of local specialties at a restaurant overlooking the twinkling lights of the city. Highly recommend this trip.

Awesome! Nancy has a gift for organizing, flexing on a dime, teaching in entertaining and inspiring ways! It was a privilege to be on this trip with her
